Students have now gotten their vocabulary words for Unit 2. All students should complete their word-busting activity to get to know these words and break them down. Above is a sample of what an "A" wordbust activity would look like.
Students should include the following:
1. Word/sentence
2. Context clues OR Structure OR Sound for each word. (They should alternate between words, so there shouldn't be context clues for all ten vocab words. Students need to learn how to break words down with structure, and how to link words together with sound.
3. Dictionary definition--this definition should fit in the sentence. It should not be the first word they come across in the dictionary.
Vocabulary can be typed and e-mailed or handwritten. Either is fine as long as they are turned in on the due-date. Students should not come in to class expecting to e-mail/print their words in here.
8th grade words:
abuse deceive
baffle folklore
barbarism knoll
bewilder sincerity
calamity novelty
9th grade words:
belligerent hideous
dexterity inflammation
eradicate manifest
fervent meander
havoc recede
